Nous voici donc de nouveau en route pour Preveza en Grèce pour retrouver Hera II après deux ans d’absence, la dernière fois que nous y étions était à l’automne 2019, à cause bien sûr du corona virus (ce dernier voyage en Grèce est raconté dans le blog « Going South Again by car 2019 »). Hera II est le voilier dont nous sommes propriétaire d’un dixième, c'est-à-dire que neuf autres personnes sont aussi propriétaires.
Nous nous levons à
3 h 30 et un taxi vient nous chercher à 4 h 15. Nous prenons un bon petit-déjeuner à l’aéroport
de Bergen à 5 h puis vol sans histoire jusqu’à Amsterdam ou nous reprenons un
autre avion pour Athènes. L’arrivée à Athènes se fait sous une pluie battante
et nous devons marcher un peu dehors pour aller chercher la voiture de location
que nous avons réservée. Consolation, il pleut fort mais il ne fait pas froid.
Nous prenons la route pour Preveza, moi conduisant et Jens étant navigateur. Le
temps change de forte pluie à éclaircies assez courtes. Nous nous arrêtons une
fois pour un café et une tourte au fromage et continuons. Nous arrivons à
Preveza vers 19 h, à la nuit tombante mais sans pluie. Jens a réservé une
chambre à l’hôtel « Avra », sur le port. Courte promenade le long du
quai avant d’aller diner et nous sommes bien contents que le dernier usager d’Hera
II l’ait laissée à la marina, pas au quai en ville : il souffle un très
fort vent, la mer est agitée et plus haute que normale, elle charrie des algues
jusque sur le quai. Les quelques bateaux qui sont amarrés là, des bateaux de
location pour la plupart, bougent beaucoup. Nous dinons à notre taverna
favorite et le propriétaire nous reconnait. Nous dégustons une salade grecque
et un poisson grillé. Le patron nous offre le dessert, du yaourt avec un fruit
confit et une liqueur. Et au lit, la journée a été longue.

So here we are
again on our way to Preveza in Greece to find Hera II after two years of
absence, the last time we were there was in the fall of 2019, of course due to
the corona virus (the blog I wrote about this trip is “Going South Again by car
2019”). Hera II is the yacht of which we own a tenth, which means nine other
people also own her.
We get up at
3.30 a.m. and a taxi picks us up at 4.15 a.m. We have a good breakfast at
Bergen airport at 5 a.m. then a smooth flight to Amsterdam where we take
another plane to Athens. The arrival in Athens is in the pouring rain and we
have to walk outside for a bit to get the rental car we have reserved.
Consolation, it's raining hard but it's not cold. We take the road to Preveza,
me driving and Jens being the navigator. The weather changes from heavy rain to
fairly short clearings. We stop once for coffee and cheese pie and continue on.
We arrive in Preveza around 7 p.m., at nightfall but no rain. Jens booked a
room at the "Avra" hotel on the harbor. Short walk along the quay
before going to dinner and we are very happy that the last user of Hera II left
her at the marina, not at the quay in town: it is blowing a very strong wind,
the sea is rough and higher than normal, it carries algae to the quay. The few
boats that are moored there, mostly rental boats, are moving a lot. We dine at
our favorite taverna and the owner recognizes us. We enjoy a Greek salad and a
grilled fish. The owner offers us dessert, yogurt with candied fruit, and a
liqueur. And in bed, the day has been long.
