Lantana. Vathi

Nous nous baignons du bateau avant le petit-déjeuner, déjeunons et partons tranquillement vers le sud, vers Vathi sur Ithaca. Nous allons un peu à la voile, vent assez léger. Nous arrivons à Vathi à 13 h. Le port, très grand est presque vide, nous pouvons nous mettre le long du quai, pratiquement à la même place où nous étions en octobre 2017. Nous marchons en ville, Vathi est une petite ville mais la capitale de l’ile d’Ithaca. Jens veut acheter du matériel pour réparer les toilettes. Le quincailler n’a pas ce qu’il faut mais indique un autre magasin. Nous y allons à pied et, surprise, c’est un grand magasin qui a « de tout », du matériel de plomberie, aux machines à laver en passant par des téléphones et des couvertures. Jens trouve ce dont il a besoin et nous revenons au port. Nous passons devant un café et regardons ce que mangent les gens. Deux hommes nous interpellent et nous proposent de gouter leur plat ! On est un peu embêtés mais ils insistent, du coup nous nous installons à la table voisine et prenons la même chose qu’eux, une friture de petits poissons et un plat de saucisses, boulettes de viande, beignets de fromage et frites. Le serveur nous propose un autre poisson, la friture est finie, et nous nous régalons. C’est même trop copieux, nous rapportons un doggy bag. Café grec pour terminer le repas et nous rentrons après ce lunch non-planifié au café. Nous repartons, cette fois en vélo, pour la plage de l’autre côté de la baie. En vélo, ça va mais en octobre 2017 nous l’avons fait à pied et c’est loin. Nous étions plus jeunes … Puis blog pour moi et Jens inspecte les toilettes pour voir le travail à faire. Diner au bateau du doggy bag, promenade en ville et café.

We swim from the boat before breakfast, have breakfast and leave quietly to go south towards Vathi on Ithaca. We are sailing a bit, the wind is fairly light. We arrive in Vathi at 1 p.m. The port, very large is almost empty, we can dock alongside, practically at the same place where we were in October 2017. We walk in town, Vathi is a small town but the capital of Ithaca Island. Jens wants to buy supplies to fix the toilets. The hardware store does not have what he wants but indicates another store. We walk there and, surprisingly, it's a large store that has "everything" from plumbing supplies, to washing machines, to phones and blankets. Jens finds what he needs and we return to the port. We walk past a cafe and look at what people are eating. Two men offer us to taste their dish! We're a bit annoyed but they insist, so we sit at the next table and order the same thing as them, fried small fish and a plate of sausages, meatballs, cheese fritters and fries. The waiter offers us another fish, the frying is finished, and we feast. It’s even too much, we’re bringing back a doggy bag. Greek coffee to finish the meal and we return to the boat after this unplanned lunch at the cafe. We set off again, this time by bike, for the beach on the other side of the bay. By bike it’s fine but in October 2017 we did it on foot and it is far. We were younger… Then blog for me and Jens inspects the toilets to see the work to be done. Dinner of the doggy bag on the boat, walk and coffee in the town.
